Marantz engineered the affordable UD5005 Blu-ray universal disc player with both audiophiles and videophiles in mind. Its many features include a 10-bit image processing and scaler with 148.5 MHz over sampling and 12-bit video processing, a USB connection, support for BD-Live, and a built-in Ethernet port that supports streaming of Netflix (subscription required).

The UD5005 is a single source component that features true universal compatibility and impressive performance from virtually all of today's most advanced video and audio formats. This Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player will play virtually any 'CD-size' digital audio or digital video disc ever created, including CD, SACD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, and, of course, Blu-ray. It supports HDMI ver.1.4a and will offer 3D Blu-ray disc playback capability via a future firmware upgrade.

Via its Ethernet connection, the UD5005 supports DLNA 1.5, streaming capability of your home network for audio, video, and photo files, making this a superb 'family room' centerpiece for all your media. The built-in 1 Gb of memory provides BD-Live functionality (Profile 2.0), and you can expand the memory via the USB port. 

For impressive picture quality, the UD5005 incorporates x.v.Color and Deep Color with a 148.5 MHz over sampling, 12-bit video processing, featuring 10-bit image processing and scaling. Various picture adjustments let you tweak the video just the way you like it to you’re your particular display device and personal tastes. Independent board construction minimizes the interaction between audio, video, and power supply stages.

In addition to the HDMI 1.4a connectivity, the Marantz provides component video, composite video, and coaxial digital audio outputs. The stereo analog audio outputs benefit from a 192 kHz, 24-bit audio D/A converter.
